Battery, motor & controller

Power problems, found first

Power issues are the ones most likely to get the wrong part thrown at them. We test first, so you only pay for what's actually broken.

A dead battery, a weak motor and a failing controller can all look the same from the saddle. At our St. Petersburg shop we test the whole power system to find which part is really at fault, explain it, and give you a price before anything is replaced.

How we diagnose power problems

We check the simple things first, like the charger, fuses and connectors, then test how the battery performs while the bike is working, not just sitting still. From there we look at the controller, sensors, wiring and motor until we've found the cause. You get a plain-English explanation of what failed and why.

Repair or replace?

When a battery, motor or controller does need replacing, we'll walk you through the options and the price. Parts are ordered for your bike only after you approve. We're not a parts store, so our only goal is getting your bike running again.

Battery safety

If a battery is swollen, cracked, leaking, unusually hot or smells like burning, stop charging it, keep it away from anything flammable and call us before bringing it in. Don't charge a battery that has been underwater.

  • Use the charger made for your bike.
  • Keep batteries out of hot cars and direct sun when you can.
  • If the bike was caught in a storm or a flood, have it checked before you charge or ride it.

Hub motor or mid-drive?

Hub motors sit in the center of a wheel. Mid-drive motors sit between the pedals and power the chain. Both can be diagnosed here, and knowing which one you have helps when you describe the problem. If you're not sure, just tell us the make and model.

Questions riders ask

Can you fix my battery instead of replacing it?

It depends on what testing shows. We'll explain what's possible for your battery and what each option costs before anything is done.

Do you have my battery in stock?

We don't stock parts. Anything your bike needs is ordered specifically for it once you approve the repair.

Can I charge my bike at the shop?

Yes. Charging for e-bikes and other EVs is free while you're here.
